Carefree yet considered, fun but luxurious, Runa Farm offers individual character and style all wrapped up in an honest, organic and private setting for celebrations as unique as those taking their vows.

Relaxed Spanish influences freely intertwine with the venue’s natural farming heritage for earthy, elegant and beautifully immersive spaces.

The Runa Farm Chapel is the hidden gem of the farm – entirely unique and unlike any other north east wedding ceremony venue – with its ornate tented ceiling, smooth polished stone walls and shimmering lanterns delivering an ethereal and romantic experience. For the ultimate dress reveal, brides access the Chapel through a secret entrance making their way down the statement wow-worthy staircase, leading directly to the wedding aisle.

The Old Barn is where the eating, drinking, and merriment takes place. A fabulous timber and exposed stone building brimming with character, flanked on two sides by picture-perfect private terraces that will transport guests to the Mediterranean in an instant.

Of course, life on the farm is all about the outdoors, and so we love to share more of the estate’s natural beauty with our marrying couples by offering an abundance of opportunities to introduce alfresco elements to the celebrations; from welcome drinks in the meadow, private dining the night before on the terrace, pizza slices in the kitchen garden, or fabulous feasts served up from our impressive outdoor kitchen.

Brides and grooms can even take their ‘I dos’ outdoors – and open-air wedding ceremonies don’t get any more romantically unique than what Runa Farm has to offer. You can even enjoy have a wonderfully off-beat ceremony set against a backdrop of a wild meadow, complete with vintage tractor!

WEDDING FOOD

Memorable food to be shared and enjoyed is the heart and soul of Runa Farm with our chefs creating remarkable feasts influenced by their County Durham surroundings, using the very best of what’s available from the fields, kitchen garden and other like-minded local producers.

Runa Farm is no slouch on drinks either with Aperol Spritzes and Espresso Martinis on tap alongside lagers and cask ales from across the north east, plus a fine wine menu too!

Further celebrating the farm’s spectacular setting, we love to show off our cooking skills using Runa’s outdoor courtyard kitchen with rotisserie and grill, as well as the wood fired pizza oven in the kitchen garden, all adding an extra special touch to breezy spring/summer soirees.

Our adjoining pub, The Smithy, is an incredible, rustic inspired and boutique hotel in the heart of
Northumberland. Our accommodation is also dog-friendly, so if you’re planning on having your precious pooch at your wedding reception you won’t have to take them home at the end of the day – making it even more special!

Outdoor Specialists

Our outdoor ceremonies and celebrations are among the most distinctively different in the world! Here at Runa Farm scent filled outdoor terraces with fire pits, kitchen gardens with wood fired pizza ovens, a stable yard and a wildflower meadow for picnics and roasts, are all part of the offering.

For nature lovers our family of farmyard residents will happily participate in making couples’ country weddings the real deal, with ponies for petting and alpacas for posing.

Furthermore, given our own love of animals, Runa Farm is super dog-friendly so couples can invite (arguably) their most important guest to share in the celebrations!

Festival Style Weddings

We’re specialists when it comes to wedding festivals. These combine all the beauty you’d expect of a rural County Durham country farm with the abundant fun of a summer festival. Typically, a festival-themed wedding will take place outside, incorporating live music, street food, glitter, flower crowns and a laid-back, boho atmosphere. To complete the experience guests can even sleep under the stars, camping out the night before and/or of the wedding.

Less formal than a traditional wedding, festival style nuptials throw away the rulebook in terms of format and allow brides and grooms to really express their personalities. Better still, if the guest list is large, it’s a great way to make the most of the budget and still put on a party to remember!
